Camps and Summer Classes begin FRIDAY!

Hello All,

My first school year back has come to a close and the spring proved to be exceedingly busy, but I’ve got two clean classrooms there and am ready to get back to the business that is Created to Grow and our fun creative summer opportunities at Community Grounds and in my backyard studio. As I transition back into this work, I’ve found some significant technical difficulties on the website, so bear with me as I find a little time to sit down with my developer and get it fixed. For now, please RSVP, call or email to register for those classes you are interested in and I’ll send you an invoice. Payment can be taken the first day of class or via paypal.

See you in the Studio,

Ariane

Eat Up the Debt Tomorrow Night

Draw down the Debt: Creative fun for a great cause!

One of the best things this business allows me to do is to get creative with the community in the name of things that matter! Tomorrow  evening we’ll be drawing together at our Draw Down the Debt Campaign (RSVP here: https://createdtogrow.com/event/draw-down-the-debt-community-challenge/ ) supporting Columbia Heights Public Schools Eat Up the Debt Campaign with a Free Will Donation lesson creating a spring still life at Community Grounds Coffee Shop in Columbia Heights. We’ve only got 3 signed up so far and I’m issuing a challenge. The suggested donation to participate is $10 so right now that’s an expected $30. I’ll match all donations up to $100. Let’s get 10 folks on board to get the maximum amount of support for our families who struggle to keep up with school lunch debt and take the weight off a district already working under significant constraints from budget cuts.

See you in the Studio,

Ariane

Spring Series Begin and Summer Camps announced!

Hello All,

It’s been awhile since you have seen an update so I wanted to say hello and thank you to all our loyal customers who’ve been patiently awaiting more Created to Grow events on the calendar! This year of settling into teaching full time in the schools again has proven to be very busy and finding that balance has taken most of my energy, but Created to Grow is still here and our new Spring Series with our newest teacher, Erin Dolan will begin on Wednesday and Summer Camps are now planned and ready for registration. The best part of all this waiting for you is that as we settle into our new satellite version of our programming we get to pass our lower overhead on to you in lower priced classes and camps! It’s always been my goal to keep our classes as accessible as possible and with this model we can do even better at that for you!

Special Event to help Eat Up the Debt for Columbia Heights Public Schools

Thursday, April 26th 6-7:30pm

As a part of the Eat Up the Debt Challenge: Created to Grow is partnering up with Community Grounds to offer a free will donation drawing lesson with proceeds going to the the Eat Up the Debt Campaign to help pay down the lunch debt of Columbia Heights Public School students. This lesson will teach participants to set up, layout and complete a still life drawing. This lesson will be ideal for students from middle school up through adults. All are welcome to give it a try! (Suggested Donation $10)

Spring Series Starts Wednesday

We have two fun spring classes for Preschoolers and Homeschoolers starting Wednesday! Unfortunately, our website is not allowing us to register folks for the class and though it should be fixed soon, it won’t likely be resolved before the series begins, so here’s the low down. Creative Kidlit, our story hour with a creative twist will begin at 9:30 this Wednesday and Homeschool Arts Collective will start at 10:30. The series will run for 6 weeks with the exception of April 25th due to a teacher conflict. Creative Kidlit is $8 for a drop in rate and $45 for the full 6 weeks. Homeschool Arts Collective is $8 for a drop in session or $50 for the full six weeks.  Since online registration isn’t currently available, let us know you are planning on joining in the fun by RSVPing on this following facebook event. Drop ins are always welcome, but it’s always great to get an idea of numbers before classes begin:

This class will be held in my child friendly backyard for $8/artist or $55 for all 8 weeks and will be rescheduled in inclement weather.

Elementary morning camps

Glitter and Glow: June 18-20th, 9:30am-12pm Have a child who oohs and ahhs when they spot those extra special art materials that are neon or shimmery, glittery or glowing! Here’s their chance to dig in to all those materials somewhere that doesn’t coat your house in a fine dusting of glitter! A full 4 days of projects made with medium that shimer and shine, glitter and glow!

Nature’s Creative Collectors: July 16-18, 9:30am-12pm This is the perfect class for those children whose pockets ( and yours) are inevitably full of cool rocks and interesting leaves, a flower petal and an intriguing stick every time you take a walk. Create a nature sketchbook with collector pockets and use the nature you find in the art you create. These nature finds can inspire observational drawings, become a new style of paint brush, hang in a mobile or become a weaving loom. 4 days to collect and explore. Weather permitting, each morning will begin with a short neighborhood walk so be prepared with appropriate clothing and shoes.

Wizards and Spells: Aug 6th-8th, 9:30am-12pm Art is a great way to make magic and there’s so much creative literature that inspires young wizards to create a magical world of their own. Create your own wands, capes and horcrux stones, a messenger owl and more fun projects inspired by stories like Harry Potter by JK Rowling!

Created to Grow Returns!

Great new location, Great new teacher and more of the wonderful classes and events you already LOVE!

I’m so excited to get going on the return of Created to Grow at our new pop up location. I’ve been busy settling into my regular classroom teaching job again and it took a little longer than I’d anticipated to pull together our new Created to Grow vision, but we are ready to bring you the great creative arts classes community you’ve grown to know and love! Our newest classes will be held at Community Grounds Coffee Shop in Columbia Heights. They have a wonderful play space and a great selection of coffee, tea and snacks for before and after class.

I’d also like to introduce Arianne Zager as a new teacher for our morning classes.  Arianne Zager has been in Minneapolis showing, sharing and teaching art for just under a year now. She moved here from Asia where she was painting full time. Before that she started her art career in galleries in NYC where she lived and taught for over 10 years. Arianne has now made a home in South Minneapolis where she runs and owns NOVA art space, a studio for children and adults to create and learn.
